Actor Jeong Jae-yeong's next film finished shooting on the last day of January. The comedy bears the Korean title Bareuge Salja, which translates in English as: "let's live righteous". The film ("Going by the Book") is scheduled for release in the first part of the year. First time director RA Hee-chan was in charge of the filming.

It's reported that the last filmed scene of the comedy was a bank robbery simulation with JUNG's character firing dummy bullets to guard the bank. Filming took place in the province Kangwon-do.

JEONG and RA both have a history with influential director JANG Jin. They worked together on director JANG Jin's 2005 film "Murder, Take One" ("The Big Scene") RA as an assistant director. In 2005, JEONG also played in the popular comedy "Welcome to Dongmakgol", scripted by JANG Jin. Last year he was part of SONG Chang-soo's comedy "My Captain Mr. Underground" and collaborated with JANG Jin again on the gangster drama "Righteous Ties".

Korea's first children's movie theater in Busan

Korea's first children's movie theater, Kids Cinema, has opened its doors to the public.

Primus Cinema Co., Ltd., a multiplex theater company, opened Kids Cinema in Hwayeong, Busan last December 8. It will be recalled that last October, Primus Cinema introduced an experimental cinema for kids in Hwamyeong, where it played children's movies, including animations.

To celebrate Kids Cinema's opening, Primus Cinema held "Hello! KIDS CINEMA", a battery of events, on the day of the opening. "Hello! KIDS CINEMA" included a face-painting or caricature event for those children who visited the theater on its opening day. The children also received a "Kid's Card". Primus Cinema also gave away a bini (a knit hat) to the first 1,000 children who visited the theater that day. Free movie screenings for children and their parents were also held. Shown were "Children in Heaven", "Kikujiro's Summer", "The Way Home", and "My Captain Mr. Underground".

Directed by Song Chang-soo and starring Jeong Jae-yeong, the film revolves around Kim Dae-chul (played by Jeong), who is a penniless, antisocial tomb raider. He steals a precious Buddhist statue from an archeological dig, but while trying to hide the statue in an underground location, Dae-chul meets with two odd little kids _ an orphan girl named Chi-min (Nam Ji-hyeon) and a vampire boy named Pyong-o (Kim Soo-ho). When the vampire boy steals the statue from its hiding place, Dae-chul pretends to be a secret agent in order to find the relic. One thing leads to another and the trio find themselves running from corrupt cops and gangsters. Dae-chul's tough guy demeanor begins to melt as he spends more time with the kids. Jang Seo-hee Invited to Shanghai Korean Film Festival

Actress Jang Seo-hee has been invited as a VIP guest to the Shanghai Korean Film Festival slated for October 1 in China.

Chang will participate in all major events of the festival, including a festival eve party and the opening and closing ceremonies.

Chang has received a special invitation to the festival as her popularity soared in China for her roles in the movies "Ghost House" and "My Captain Mr. Underground" as well as the TV drama "Miss Mermaid".

Organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, the festival is sponsored by China's influential institutions, including the Shanghai municipal government, attesting to the popularity of Korean films and actors in China.

Movie “My Scary Girl” tops box office for three weeks

The movie "My Scary Girl", which was produced with a relatively small budget of 900 million won, has become the latest success among Korean films.

The movie has remained on the top spot of the box office for three straight weeks. It was released on April 6.

According to data counted by the comprehensive computerized cinema ticket network, the movie drew 232,570 movie watchers over the weekend.

The animation "Ice Age 2" came in second with 178,980 spectators, followed by Bruce Willis' "16 Blocks" and "The Inside Man" starring Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster.

"Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood" and another Korean movie, "My Captain Mr. Underground", took fifth and sixth place, respectively, and "Dreamer" landed in seventh.

Korean movies have claimed the top spot of the box office for 19 consecutive weeks until the third week of April. But only two Korean movies were actually in the top 10, with Hollywood films filling the second to sixth place positions....| More
