November 15, 2008 Writing her first online serial, Jeong I-hyeon got used to a series of unusual habits. Using a special host ID, she snuck into http://www.Kyobobook.com, an online bookstore where her serialized novel has been running since August, and shifted around a few adverbs and slotted in some new phrases. Her readers could spot these changes simultaneously and comment accordingly. Writing an online novel has endowed Jeong with both freedom and restraint. She can change the text at any time of the day, but for that privilege, she has to endure, at times, overbearing levels of intimacy with her readers. "You Don't Know", Jeong's latest novel, is an urban family drama spiced up with the ingredients of a mystery novel. The story is uploaded every weekday morning at 10:30 a.m. By early afternoon, a string of comment...| More

The inaugural festival takes place January 16 – 22 at the festival cinemas, babylon berlin:mitte and Z-Bar.Director NOH's sophomore feature is about two boys on the outskirts of town who believe that their life is elsewhere but they have no means to pursue their dreams. Next Wednesday, the stellar triumvirate of Song Kang-ho, Lee Byeong-heon and Jeong Woo-seong gather to start filming "The Good, the Bad, the Weird". Simply by starring the three stars, the movie is generating huge advance buzz. The Chosun Ilbo spoke to Director Kim Ji-woon (43)."As a movie fan, I have certain wishes. Why are there no movies in Korea like "Ocean's Eleven" that gather an ensemble of superstars? There should be at least one such movie in my generation, never mind popularity and ambition". That begs the question how difficult it was. The audience may be delighted, but persuading the stars must have been a headache for Kim. Every star, after all, has a tendency to think of him- or herself as the center of the universe. Catering to the emotional needs of three solar systems can't have been easy. Even though the three actors are reportedly close, Kim seems reluctant to talk about the point. After some thought, he puts it this way: Lee Byung-hun is "the most question...| More

Park Chan-wook turns from vengeance to melodrama
"I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", the new film by director Park Chan-wook, is a cheerful melodrama starring two of Korea's heartthrobs, "Rain" and Im Soo-jeong. The film, which will be released on December 7, is an unusual story for a director most known for his cruel revenge trilogy, that ended with "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance". It is also the first time one of his films has received a general admission rating 12. The film is a love story about two patients in a mental hospital ― a girl who will not eat, insisting she's a Cyborg, and a boy addicted to robbery. The JoongAng Ilbo recently met with Mr. Park, who was working on computer graphics during last minute post-production. Q. In a statement about "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" you said that after working with young actors, you wanted to be young again. Do you not consider yourself young? A. I was only saying that I didn't work with actors like Choi Min-sik [the main char...| More
