  • Director owns up to box office flop

    2012/10/09, Source,
Director Kang Je-gyu said he had only himself to blame for the flop of last year's movie "My Way", which cost a whopping 30 billion won ($27 million) to make. At a Korean film seminar on Monday at Emory University in Atlanta, Kang said he really should have probed more people for their input. The 49-year-old said that because his cast and crew were intimidated by his fame, no one dared to challenge his ideas. "So I made every decision, and this was why the film did so poorly", he said,...More

    2012/05/21, Source,
Ha Jeong-woo and Ha Ji-won have been voted the most popular actor and actress in Korea in an email poll by the Chosun Ilbo and the nation's largest film ticketing site MaxMovie. Some 25,784 people voted from April 18 to May 5. The two drew 10.1 and 13.7 percent of the votes respectively. But Song Kang-ho and Jeon Do-yeon were chosen as the best -- as opposed to most popular -- actor and actress, with 18 and 23.3 percent. Since the poll targeted online users of MaxMovie who had been to the cinema at least once last year, it probably reflects moviegoers' preferences more accurately than other surveys,...More
