He tells Dae-su that if he discovers the reason for his imprisonment in five days, then he will kill himself. If not, he will kill Mido. Only five days are given to Dae-su to find out the reason behind the guy¡¯s grudge against Dae-su. While doing so, hidden secrets about Dae-su and Mido's relationship are revealed.

  • [HanCinema's Film Review] Park Chan-wook's "Stoker"

    2013/05/18,
After the mysterious death of her father on her 18th birthday, India Stoker (Mia Wasikowska) is introduced to the uncle she never knew existed. The funeral comes and goes; yet her mother (Evelyn played by Nicole Kidman) is still adamant in keeping Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode) around for emotional support at their large country estate. India herself is a creepy young woman who wouldn't look out of place in the Adam's Family. She regards her handsome and chivalrous uncle with strong suspicion and silently contemplates his motives and timely appearance in her life. The young teenager's relationship with her father was strong (mostly remembered through flashbacks of their hunting trips together) and overshadowed/marginalised her connection to her mother. As India watches Charlie and Evelyn's relationship become increasingly inappropriately, the dark echoes of her family history take hold and develops into a frightening new chapter for her and her kin,...More

  • [HanCinema's Film Talk] Is Spike Lee out of his depth with "Old Boy"?

    2013/04/27,
Although its official release date is still a long way off (early October 2013), Spike Lee's "Oldboy" has finally given us something to look at. A poster teaser was recently released that shows little more that twenty red scratches, along with the controversial titling: "A Spike Lee joint" (whatever that means). Indeed, since it was announced that Park Chan-wook's award winning film was to be given the Hollywood 'bump', fans and critics alike have been very vocal in asking the very simple and obvious question-Why?,...More
  • "The New World" Opens on March 22 in North America

    2013/03/21, Source,
A remarkable gangster noir film, "The New World" (2013, Korea), opens on March 22nd. This Korean crime drama, which is influenced by Hong Kong's Infernal Affairs (remade by Hollywood as The Departed), proposes an original take on the genre. It will be released to audiences in 24 North American cities. "The New World" is about a cop who is caught between his professional duty and the challenges of an undercover mission, struggling to complete his tasks without being revealed as a mole. "The New World" features a great lineup of South Korean stars, including Choi Min-sik ("Old Boy"), who plays the head of the Police department, Lee Jeong-jae  ("The Housemaid - 2010", "The Thieves") as Lee Joong-Goo, and Hwang Jeong-min ("The Unjust", "A Bittersweet Life") who plays Jung Chung,...More
