Three famous producers who gave birth to the most popular Korean sitcoms are set to speak at the Cultural Content Academy.

The Cyber Cultural Content Academy (http://contents.connect.or.kr), operated by the Korea Culture and Content Agency, has invited three well-known producers of Korean sitcoms to give an open lecture on, June 30, 2007, at 2 PM at the KOCCA building in Yeoksam-dong.

The speakers who will be expounding on the theme of the Korean sitcom's "Present and Future" are Noh Do-Cheol, producer of "Soul Mate" and "Hello, Francesca", Kim Min-Sik of "Rainbow Romance", and Kim Seok-Yoon of "Old Miss Diary - Drama".

Kim Min-Sik will start off on the theme of "Youth Sitco: Its Past, Present, and Future" and examine the success factors of "Three Men, Three Women", and "Non-Stop". The talk hopes to chart a direction for the advancement of youth sitcoms, according to the desires of viewers, which have become more diverse.

Funny women break through with a string of hit comedies

Women are enjoying remarkable success on the silver screen thanks to comedy. The movie "200 Pounds Beauty", which stars the actress Kim Ah-joong as an obese pop singer, has drawn more than 2.5 million people since its release on Dec. 14. This is the best box-office performance by a single movie since the release of "The War of Flower" in September.
Although it does not measure up to "200 Pounds Beauty", the movie "Old Miss Diary - Movie", which opened on Dec. 1, has been enjoying support from a steady stream of moviegoers. The movie is a comedy centered on single women in their 20s and 30s. "Go Go Sister", which stars the famous actress Ko So-young, is scheduled to be released in a couple of days, and it is also a comedy.

Film Adaptations Winter Sonata and Autumn in My Heart

The rights for a film adaptation of the popular Korean television dramas Autumn in My Heart and Winter Sonata are obtained by Poibos from KBS Media. Poibos announced that nothing has been decided yet about the cast and the story.

Autumn in My Heart and Winter Sonata enjoyed great popularity across Asia and turned the leading actors into pan-Asian stars. Song Seung-heon and Song Hye-kyo played the main characters in Autumn in My Heart, and Winter Sonata starred Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo.

The Poibos associated production company Culture Cap Media is attached to the project as producers of the films. Culture Cap Media films include the 2004 box office hit My Little Bride.

Other Korean television serials in development for film adaptation include "Old Miss Diary - Drama" (KBS sitcom), "Hello, Francesca" (MBC sitcom) and Taereung Training Center (MBC short drama).

Yoon Seok-ho's Seasonal Series Dramas to Become Films

Two KBS hit dramas, "Autumn in My Heart" and "Winter Sonata", will be adapted into movies. Poibos, an entertainment company, said Wednesday that it signed an agreement on Monday with KBS Media to buy the copyright to "Autumn in My Heart" after securing the copyright to "Winter Sonata" in May.

Culture Cap Media, a Poibos associate, will produce the film versions of the dramas. The company has produced "My Little Bride" and "Jenny, Juno".

"Besides selecting a production company, no plans have yet been made in relation to making the movies", Poibos said. "We haven't decided who we will cast and whether we will change the story or not".

The dramas, produced by Yoon Seok-ho and written by Oh Soo-yeon, gained great popularity across Asia, making Song Seung-heon and Song Hye-kyo, who played the leading roles in "Autumn in My Heart", and Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo, the two stars in "Winter Sonata", rise to stardom in the entire Asia region.

Hit sitcom "Old Miss Diary" to be filmed

TV sitcom drama "Old Miss Diary - Drama" which was sensational last year will be filmed.

Movie "Old Miss Diary - Movie" standing for troubles domino will be directed by Kim Seok-yoon who made the TV series and KBS Media will be join the filming jointly.

The popular TV series are still drawing the attention from the fans through the homepage in spite of the last airing. The fans are requesting to produce the season 2 continuously. Its screening will be a good news for the fans who are expecting the new series.

The movie will give a same attraction of sitcom drama. Three old misses who are trouble makers, but don't frustrate, and three attractive grandmothers as well as the pure and wild-eyed uncle are playing the same roles in the film. The funny daily episodes will be in the movie like TV series.

The movie is now under writing the scenario and will be released this autumn.
