The "Chuseok" weekend is just around the corner and both major and cable broadcasters have prepared various programs for friends and family to enjoy.
Special Programs
KBS is traveling back in history to explore the ancient boat that carried celadon porcelain a thousand years ago with their special program "Goryeo Celadon Porcelain; Temptation of Green Celadon". The program searches for the ancient route the famous porcelain traveled, along with the reason why it was so popular in China and Japan. "Goryeo" will air Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. on KBS.
"A Lecture from Heaven" will feature violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill's trip to a small village in South Chungcheong Province. The students live in a small village where it is hard to visit even a museum, let alone a music concert. O'Neill teaches them the basics of classical music and holds a small concert with them. "A Lecture From Heaven" will air Oct. 2 at 11:15 p.m.

Major Korean film magazine Movieweek polled to find out who Koreans regard as the ten greatest screen personas. JEON Ji-hyeon's role in "My Sassy Girl" claimed the top spot for greatest female character with 21% of the votes. 25% votes for SEOL Kyeong-gu's character in the "Public Enemy" trilogy secured SEOL the greatest male character title.
In close pursuit of SEOL is CHOI Min-sik's "Old Boy" character (20%). SONG Kang-ho's "Memories of Murder" character came in third (11%).
The top three for women is completed by second placed IM Soo-jeong (19%) for her role in "I'm a Cyborg, but That's Ok", and third seed LEE Young-ae. LEE's performance in "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" earned her 13% of the votes.

Generation Blue Films, a small production house founded in 1998 with the goal of producing films in a manner different from the mainstream commercial system, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a special film festival.
Over the years, the company has helped to introduce many important new directors and has provided an environment where filmmakers can feel free to experiment.
To be held at the Seoul Art Cinema near the south end of Insa-dong, the festival will feature 16 short films and 10 feature films that were produced or coproduced by Generation Blue Films. It is scheduled to run from December 5 to 14.
Films to be screened, which include a broad range of independent and commercial works, include "Happy End" (1999), "Wanee and Junah" (2001), "Jealousy Is My Middle Name" (2003), "So Cute" (2004), "Red Shoes" (2005), "The Sex Film" (2006), "Boys of Tomorrow" (2006), "Old Miss Diary - Movie" (2006), "No Regret" (2006), and "Milky Way Liberation Front" (2007).

One of South Korea's top two annual film awards ceremonies will take place June 8th in the city of Daejeon. The 44th Grand Bell Awards, which is televised nationally, will be accompanied by the week long Daejeon Film Festival which will showcase 66 domestic films including last year's sensational "The Host" and international film festival familiar "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family").
Last year, LEE Joon-ik's breakthrough commercial success "The King and the Clown" swept the awards. Popularity is an important factor in the Grand Bell Awards, and this year's nominations for Best Film are "Radio Star", "A Dirty Carnival", "200 Pounds Beauty", "The Host", and "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family"). The latter three also received Best Director nominations for KIM Yong-hwa, BONG Joon-ho, and KIM Tae-yong respectively, along with RYOO Seung-wan for "The City of Violence" and CHOI Dong-hoon for Tazza: The High Rollers" ("The War of Flower").

| MOON So-ri in Sports Film Based on Real Events (Source) |

Leading actress MOON So-ri joined the cast of the upcoming film Woori Saengae Chwegoui Soongan, the title translates as: "the best moment of our life". The sports drama will be directed by LIM Soon-rye. The true story is based on the Korean women's handball team at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
The cast's strong line-up also includes the actresses KIM Jeong-eun, KIM Ji-young and JO Eun-ji. The drama will be complemented with humorous lighter moments. The portrayal of these women's greatest game will rely on the athletic abilities of the actresses to achieve realistic and dynamic action scenes; therefore, the actresses will undergo handball training during three months. The film is scheduled for a cinematic release in the second part of 2007.
