Top actors Seol Kyeong-gu, 41, and Song Yoon-ah, 35, surprised the public with their engagement to wed at the end of the month.
"Seol and Song are holding their wedding on May 28", Seol's management agency S2007 Entertainment said Friday. The two stars plan to hold an official press conference today at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Yeoksam-dong, southern Seoul.
The "On Air" TV screen beauty and the award-winning actor of "Peppermint Candy" are both graduates of Hanyang University. They acted opposite each other for the first time in 2002 through the film "Jail Breakers - No. 815" and then in 2006 for the melodrama "Lost in Love".
Coincidentally enough, Seol separated with his then-wife, the younger sister of actor Ahn Nae-sang, during the production of "Jail Breakers - No. 815" and then divorced her by mutual agreement in July 2007, when "Lost in Love" was released.
In an interview with Sports Chosun, Seol denied rumors about having had an ext... |More

The makers of hit dramas and some of Korea's favorite actors are getting together to bring the life, passion and love of public officials working at city hall.
Created by producer Sin Woo-cheol and writer Kim Eun-sook, who brought hit television series such as "Lovers in Paris" (2004), "Lovers in Prague" (2005) and "On Air" (2008), the new drama "The City Hall" portrays the story of public officials working in a small town finding their way to success, plus a bit of romance along the way.
"We were not going for a political drama. We just wanted to talk about people, and a lot of them, and that's how we set the backdrop in a city hall. The drama will be about people we meet and see everyday", said the producer at a press conference held in Incheon.
Kim Seon-ah, 33, who played the quirky and lovable character Sam-soon in the hit drama "My Lovely Sam-soon", will appear as Shin Mi-rae, a low-ranking official who's been making coffee for her supe... |More

Hallyu stars Park Yong-ha and Kwon Sang-woo are moving into the television spotlight where, until recently, pretty boys, shiny sports cars ("Boys Over Flowers") and even a historic hero ("Moon River - Iljimae Returns") dominated.
The leading men of new dramas "The Slingshot" (KBS) and "Cinderella Man" (MBC), respectively, are expected to heat up the already star-studded drama casts, which include So Ji-sub, Kim Nam-joo and Jeong Ryeo-won.
Written by Song Ji-na as the final piece of her trilogy ― the first two being "Eye of Dawn" (1991) and "Sandglass" (1997) ― "The Slingshot" is expected to capture the reality of today's money-driven world.
"We focused on the world of men and women who are willing to sacrifice their lives for money, a world where money dictates. But I still tried to make a lighter, enjoyable and somewhat touching series", Yoon Sung-sik, the producer, said at a press conference last week in northern Seoul.

The box office can be as difficult to predict as the stock market, and South Korean cinema in particularly is suffering amid the global financial crisis. "The Scam", the country's first stock market movie, will undoubtedly prove to be a smart investment. Unlike its scamming characters, newcomer director Lee Ho-jae-I invests the right way, with a solid, "inflation-free" script and the magic chemistry of a talented cast.
The crime drama draws in viewers without becoming too technical, as it is more about the human desire for wealth than financial matters. Losing tens of millions of won in the stock market can be only a click away on the Internet. "Click", and hopeless debtors head to the Han River.
Hallyu star Park Yong-ha (SBS's "On Air") sheds his sleek image to play Hyeon-su, a victim of such a fatal click. After losing everything, he spends five years glued to the computer screen as an unshaven, full-time "ant" (individual investor). He eventu... |More
