According to POIBOS (CEO Im Seong-geun) on Nov 9, it attracted 8 billion won of foreign capital to produce Hallyu culture content.

This attraction of foreign capital can be exercised after one year as it is the BW (bond with warrant) by the way of foreign subscription. It is due on 15th Nov. 2010, of which expiration interest is 3%, and it will be managed by Shinyoung Securities Co.,Ltd.

POIBOS is going to make four to five TV series and two to three movies to regularize the export of Hallyu culture content. The sales are expected to be around 100 billion won which would be three to four times more than this year.

POIBOS took over Culture Cap Media recently that is going to produce TV series and movies with home well-known players under its daughter company GM Entertainment. A Hallyu icon, actor Song Seung-heon, will appear in those works after he comes back to the entertainment world.

"Lovers in Paris" on SBS was last year's major summer hit drama, surpassing the 50 percent viewer rating. This summer's "Princess LuLu", another similarly formulated SBS drama also starring Kim Jeong-eun as the heroine, was expected to carry on the success of "Lovers".

Instead, this season's summer heart-sizzler has fizzled. After being met with lukewarm viewer ratings, criticism for excessive commercialism and its conventional storyline, there was even talk from Kim of quitting the show.

So what will become of "Lovers in Prague", SBS' upcoming weekend drama? The drama, set to premiere on Sept. 24, has a lot in common with "Lovers in Paris" and "Princess LuLu". It brings back together producer Sin Woo-cheol and writer Kim Eun-sook, the successful team behind "Lovers in Paris". Also, its background is Prague, a European city renowned to be as exotic as Paris.

Actress Kim Jeong-eun, heroine in SBS drama "Princess LuLu," has reversed her previous decision to stop acting in the drama.

Kim plays the role of Hee-su, a pampered member of a Chaebol family. Since its July 27 premiere, the drama has been continuously criticized for excessive product placement and unrealistic storylines.

On Saturday, Kim posted on her Internet fan cafe an entry titled "I am sorry." In the entry, she said she no longer has any confidence in acting in a story that is not convincing and has been forcibly extended.

She also said, "Due to the flow of the drama, which is becoming increasingly difficult to understand, I cannot force the viewers to accept my insincerity and I am no longer confident in portraying a character that changes at every episode."

She also criticized the current drama production system. "I had to shoot the episode for Thursday that very afternoon, and it was only Saturday that I could get the script for the next Wednesday's episode."

In the war of viewer ratings between tough female characters and dainty princess-like characters, the tough ladies are winning the hearts of television audiences.

"The most noticeable thing in this year's drama scene is that viewers have shown great support for dramas that feature female characters who are strong-minded and independent enough to overcome hardships themselves", said Kang Myong-sok, a TV critic. "One of the prominent examples is this year's major hit drama series 'My Name is Kim Sam-soon' - `My Lovely Samsoon.' July 27, 2005 ? Enough is enough. But MBC-TV appears to be unaware of this simple truth. The station's long-awaited smash hit drama "My Lovely Samsoon" - "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" came to an end last week, but MBC, one of the big three national broadcasters, seems to be far from getting over it.
Before the last episode of the 16-part TV drama aired at 10 p.m. last Thursday, even the newscaster on the main 9 p.m. news show, known for his all-too-solemn look and tone of voice, wrapped up the program that night by saying, "Do not miss Samsoon tonight".
