'Shark Bait' as a commencement movie for Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children

First Korea-U.S. collaborated 3D animation film "Shark Bait" has been invited as the commencement movie for 'Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children', said DigiArt Production on March 21.

This festival is holding for the 10th year. Along with "Shark Bait", 40 full-length films and 44 short films from 28 countries, including France, Italy, Cananda and Japan, with 25 different languages will be shown. It will also include French animation mogul Michel Ocelot's "Azur et Asmar". The festival will be held in Toronto from April 13 to 22.

'Shark Bait' 180,000 audiences for Brazil's first week of release

Digiart said that 'Shark Bait' was released in Brazil on January 19th and already 180,000 audiences watched movie.

Digiart said "Shark Bait brought 180,000 audiences for first week of release it proves our contents can be successful in world market". And "Shark Bait also will be released in UK on April through world's major distributor 'Warner Brothers'.

'Shark Bait' is a movie produced by an American company 'Silver Nitrate' and Korean company FX Digital, story line of movie is about the swordfish who lost mom and dad fighting with bluster shark.

Brazils' most popular star Grach Masapera and Pelepe Dilon participated on dubbing, now in Brazil's main city 110 theaters playing 'Shark Bait'.

In Korea it was released in last July, SS501, Im Chae-moo, Park Myeong-soo helped with voice acting.

"Pi Story" ("Shark Bait") stands out among exports

Pi Story ("Shark Bait") (co-directed by Lee Kyeong-Ho, John Fox, and Howard Baker; and co-produced by FX Digital, DIGIART, and Wonder World LCC), the first Korea-US 3D animation collaboration, is reaping success in foreign markets.

On Dec. 21, DIGIART announced that "'in this year's AFM (American Film Market), Pi Story' ("Shark Bait") completed worldwide copyright sales except in Japan, France, and Germany".

Pi Story ("Shark Bait") has "contracted with a minimum guarantee of about $5 M" and "if the running guarantee that reaches an average of up to 50%, the film is expected to draw the largest sales record in foreign markets not only among Korean animations but also Korean films in general".

"Pi Story" ("Shark Bait") opens at Seoul Ani-Cinema

An animation co-produced by Korea and the USA, Pi Story ("Shark Bait") (Director: Lee Kyeong-Ho, John Fox, and Howard Baker) is to be screened at the Seoul Ani-Cinema from Oct. 13 to 22.

With Korea and the USA collaboration stirring much local interest, Pi Story was co-written by its directors, and its main production handled by DigiArt, a Korean animation producer.

The animation tells the story of a swordfish that loses his parents in an accident and fights against Hurling Shark to protect his lover Cordelia. Pi Story features the voices of Korean stars Park Myeong-Soo, Im Chae-Moo, and SS501.

2006 Korea Film Festival Opens in London

The 2006 Korea Film Festival will open in London September 27.

Organized by the Korean Culture Center in the U.K. and the Korea Culture & Content Agency, this year's festival will mark the year of mutual visits to South Korea and the U.K. The festival will screen eight domestic hit movies and four anime films for families with the aim of raising British public interest in Korean films. The eight films include "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", "Marathon", "Welcome to Dongmakgol", "April Snow" and "Crying Fist", among others. The anime films include "Pororo to the Cookie Castle", "Shark Bait" and "Hammer boy".

"Typhoon" directed by Kwak Gyeong-taek, who had previously been invited to the London Film Festival for his movies "Friend" and "Mutt Boy", has been selected as the opening film of the Korea Film Festival.
