 KBS historical drama "Hwangjin-i", starring talented Ha Ji-won, is winning over Japanese viewers, posting the highest rating in its timeslot. Japanese TV station NHK started airing the visually stunning drama on its satellite channel bs2 at nine o'clock on Sundays since last April. After recording the highest rating in that timeslot, "Hwangjin-i" was aired on NHK every Saturday night since last October.Ha Ji-won's representative says that, although historical dramas are difficult for Japanese fans to understand, Ha's superb dancing performances and colorful traditional Korean costume have captivated Japanese women.  Actor So Ji-sub, who has steadily continued his preparations to advance to Japan, will kick off his singing career in Japan as a rapper.Nikkan Sports said Sunday that So will debut as "Rapper G" in Japan on Feb. 27 with the song "'Lonely Life". It said So made news in Korea in August when he anonymously released an album comprising two single tracks. Known for his mega-hit Korean dramas "Sorry, I Love You" and "Something Happened in Bali", So finished his military service last year and appeared in the Japanese film "Kita Gegegeno's 1000 Years of Curse Song". SO Ji-sub has been cast alongside major Chinese stars Zhang Ziyi and Fan Bingbing. In the Chinese film Sophie's Revenge, Zhang's character will fall head over heels in love from the first time she meets a doctor, played by SO, only to find him stolen away by a famous actress (Fan). Zhang's character then sets out for revenge.
Korea's major film studio CJ Entertainment is coproducing the film together with Chinese Perfectworld. The romantic comedy is in the hands of director Jin Yimeng and the film is scheduled to be released in Chinese cinemas late next year. SO established his silver screen presence in the recent film "Rough Cut" (JANG Hoon) and enjoys great popularity in Asia through his television dramas "Sorry, I Love You" and "Something Happened in Bali".  How would So Ji-sub rate his acting? "Fifty-one out of 100". It is not the first time that the 32-year old has mentioned the score. He already said he would give himself 51 points when he was shooting KBS drama "I'm Sorry, I Love You", which made him a top star in 2004. The score means his acting gives him a little more satisfaction than dissatisfaction.
