It may be hard to imagine, but even a long-time boy band member like Kim Dong-wan can get nervous when embarking on a solo career.
Even having sold hundreds of thousands of albums as a member of Shinhwa, Kim admitted he is a little apprehensive at the reaction to his first album "Kimdongwan Is".
"I'm kind of nervous to have a performance by myself, to stand on stage by myself and to do a whole song", he told The Korea Times at a cafe in Apgujeong, Wednesday.
Wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and jeans, Kim looked relaxed and showed no sign of fatigue, even though he was in the middle of rehearsals.
Kim said it was Shinhwa's successful Asian tour last year, which brought them to Singapore, China, Thailand and Japan, that prompted him to decide to pursue a solo music career.
"I realized that Shinhwa was loved in Asia. I felt like I had something special I wanted to share with fans… Now I think this is the right time for me to deb... |More

"Superstar Gam Sa-yong (Superstar Mr. Gam)" is part of a wave of films hitting local theaters today in preparation for the Chusok holiday, a peak time for the local film industry. Whether the movie will end up topping the box office remains to be seen, but this sweet and modest story set in the early days of Korean baseball has all the ingredients necessary to be a hit with the whole family.
Much like the taekwondo tale "Tollyochagi (Spin Kick)" that came out earlier this summer, "Superstar" tells of underdogs in sports and in life trying to overcome their limitations. The film is based on the true story of Gam Sa-yong (Lee Bum-su), whose five-year record as a professional baseball pitcher was one win and 15 losses.
A regular company man with aspirations to be a professional baseball player, Gam's dreams come true when the Korean Baseball League is founded in 1982 and a team _ the Sammi Superstars, sponsored by Gam's company, Sammi Steel _ is s... |More
