Korean actor Kim Nam-gil [Park Sung-ki/Asia Economic Daily]
Korean actor Kim Nam-gil has said that he will be entering the military sometime during the final quarter of this year.
Speaking at a press conference for film "The Day Before", held Tuesday at Seoul's Ewha-Samsung Education Culture Center, the actor for the first time directly addressed reports about his joining the army in June to fulfill Korea's mandatory military service.
"I think I will have to go [to the military] sometime between fall and winter", the actor said. "TV series 'Bad Man' will be airing until early August and I have to wrap up other things that I am currently working on".##

The Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival (MSFF) assigned a high profile jury consisting of Korea's leading mainstream and independent directors. PARK Jin-pyo heads a jury further comprised of: KIM Tae-yong, KIM Yong-hwa, JO Chang-ho, KIM Hyeon-seok, KIM Tae-sik, KIM Han-min, JEON Gye-soo, CHOI Dong-hoon, and NA Hong-jin.
The Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival will open its doors on June 26 at Yongsan CGV in Seoul. The festival will finish on July 2. Among the upcoming directors, the festival also screens actor YOO Ji-tae's directorial short film effort "Out of My Intention" (Nado Moreuge) in the competition section.
PARK Jin-pyo directed "You Are My Sunshine" (Neoneun Nae Woonmyeong) and "Voice of Murderer" (Geu Nom Moksori). The rumors between Jin Won and Park Min-ji are true.
Jin Won's management company said in an interview, "It has been a year since they've dated. They were able to get closer while shooting a drama". They have appeared as a couple in "Super Mom", which ended last August.
According to the company, Jin Won tried to prevent the news from getting out. He was worried that Park Min-ji would have to face the consequences.
The company said, "Recently, after the rumor came out, I think they are enjoying their dates. Please help them to have a good relationship".
Park Min-ji received popular for the 2004 movie "Jenny, Juno"and "The Peter Pan Formula". Jin Won is starring in cable's Mnet drama "Five Men's Baby Angel".

| "The Cut" Combines Talent and Promising Actors (Source) |

Egg Films and Chungeorahm Films released their horror summer title "The Cut" (Haeboohakgyosil). The film is directed by SON Tae-woong and the cast features the young actors HAN Ji-min and ON Joo-wan.
The film depicts medical students who one by one start to meet their death when they start dissecting a corps of a mysterious beautiful woman. The film tackles the horror genre from a visual imaginative angle rather than relying on gore.
SON is both a director and writer and he penned BONG Joon-ho's international breakthrough "Barking Dogs Never Bite" (2000). HAN has already a long career in television dramas. ON was recognized for his leading role in JO Chang-ho's 2006 international film festival favorite "The Peter Pan Formula". He also played supporting roles in the gangster film "Bloody Tie" and the martial arts film "The City of Violence".

| Korean Action Film Invited to Asian Film Festival in France (Source) |

Director Ryoo Seung-wan's "The City of Violence" has been invited to the competitive "Action Asia" section of the 9th Deauville Asia Film Festival in France.
Its producer Film Makers R&K said Monday that the film's original style and story about a declining city and ill-fated friendship had appealed to the festival. Ryoo's "Arahan" won the Lotus Award at the festival in 2005.
Scheduled to be held from March 28 until April 1, the festival is one of two Asian film festivals in Europe along with Italy's Udine film festival.
"Nowhere to Hide" directed by Lee Myeong-se was the first Korean film to receive the Best Picture award at the French film festival in 2000, followed by "JSA - Joint Security Area" in 2001 and "Failan" in 2002. In 2005, "This Charming Girl" was awarded the Lotus Jury Prize and in 2006 "A Bittersweet Life" was given the Action Asia Award and "The Peter Pan Formula" the Lotus Jury Prize.
