  • Press gather to take in 'Snowpiercer' hype

    2013/07/23, Source,
Left to right, Movie director Bong Joon-ho, Actor Ko Ah-seong, Song Kang-ho. Prior to the release of the upcoming movie "Snowpiercer", cast members and director Bong Joon-ho gathered together for a press viewing of the movie on Monday in Wangsimni CGV in central Seoul. Actor Song Kang-ho of film "Memories of Murder" and actress Ko Ah-seong of 2012 movie "Duet" delivered their gratitude to be part of the movie, which has been garnering much international attention,...More
  • [HanCinema's Film Talk] An Eye Towards "Snowpiercer"

    2013/07/13,
"Snowpiercer" hits Korean cinemas August 1st and will make Bong Joon-ho the third Korean director to be showcasing a Hollywood feature this year. The film has an interesting and exciting cluster of Korean talent and studios on board - all of which have worked together successfully in the past. Here though I wanted to draw the eye through some of that prestigious Korean talent and showcase the keen 'eye' behind "Snowpiercer". The film stars Song Kang-ho, one of Korea's most prestigious acting talents who has been a huge performer in Bong's impressive filmography; mostly notably in "Memories of Murder" (2003) and, the highest grossing Korean film of all time, "The Host" (2006). One of "Snowpiercer"'s producers has also made fairly good use of the 46-year-old actor. Park Chan-wook continues to cast Song in his films, most recently "Day Trip" (2012), but he's also starred in "JSA - Joint Security Area" [2000], "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" (2002); "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (2005-cameo); and "Thirst" (2009),...More
  • Park Chan-wook directs video for Lee Jeong-hyeon

    2013/07/08, Source,
Park Chan-wook, the internationally acclaimed director of the movie "Old Boy" and "Thirst", has wielded a megaphone for the music video of singer Lee Jeong-hyeon. It is the first time for the veteran director, 49, to work on a music video. Lee's agency AVA Entertainment said Friday that Park shot the music clip starring Lee and her friend, actor Jin Goo, for the title song from her upcoming EP with his brother Park Chan-kyong in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, from last Tuesday to Friday,...More
  • [HanCinema's Film Review] Park Chan-wook's "Stoker"

    2013/05/18,
After the mysterious death of her father on her 18th birthday, India Stoker (Mia Wasikowska) is introduced to the uncle she never knew existed. The funeral comes and goes; yet her mother (Evelyn played by Nicole Kidman) is still adamant in keeping Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode) around for emotional support at their large country estate. India herself is a creepy young woman who wouldn't look out of place in the Adam's Family. She regards her handsome and chivalrous uncle with strong suspicion and silently contemplates his motives and timely appearance in her life. The young teenager's relationship with her father was strong (mostly remembered through flashbacks of their hunting trips together) and overshadowed/marginalised her connection to her mother. As India watches Charlie and Evelyn's relationship become increasingly inappropriately, the dark echoes of her family history take hold and develops into a frightening new chapter for her and her kin,...More
