must confess I have extreme feelings about this one - both negative and positive.
Positive ofcourse stands for amazing Jang Dong-Gun - this doesn't need much of explanation I assume. The pictures and score, scenography and montage does the rest.
Unfortunaletty the whole hollocaust-vengeance plot didn't really stroke me and reminded me too much of Die Hard trilogy, mad terrorist set to annihillate the world because once he was hurt, so sad...Anyways! That doesn't change the fact of the real plastic input and actors' effort in the whole project - this title is definitelly worth seeing too! But don't expect much from the script.
I tend to suspect some more original flicks in asian cinematography - this branch shows us how much is there to seek more that the european / u.s. movie industry fears to stand for.
Taephoong only closes a bit to Brucheimers blockbusters, fortunatelly filling it with more asian emotions and expressions, picture halts and wonderful score. I was expecting this movie for months but I must confess it just couldn't whack me off my feet. It is "only" very good with the performance and the whole production measures undertook to make it a great plastic action story, I think it's enough...
