MBC's upcoming drama "Spotlight", which airs this Wednesday night, promises to bring back a bit of excitement to the small screen.

Following on the heels of its more-than-lackluster predecessor "Who Are You?", "Spotlight" focuses on the gritty and enterprising lives of city desk broadcast news reporters. The drama tracks one woman's rise to fame, from her struggles at the city desk to her eventual success as an anchorwoman.

With a plot like that, the success of "Spotlight" rides on the strength of its heroine and on its scripting.

And the script promises to be solid. The drama's writer Lee Ki-won possesses a finesse for drawing out the dark political power struggles that go on in the workplace. And his intense and cutthroat writing will play out well in the newsroom. Lee also wrote last year's hit medical drama "White Tower".

The KBS 2TV Drama "Three Fathers, One Mother" (Writer Jo Myeong-joo, Producer Lee Jae-sang) saw positive effects from the General Elections.

"Three Fathers, One Mother" reached record ratings of 11.9% yesterday (TNS Media Korea Survey), ranked second in its time-slot and pushed past the 7.9% ratings of the MBC drama "Who Are You - Drama". The SBS Drama "On Air" has held a constant rating of 20%, but faltered slightly at 19.4% last night.

"On Air" and "Who Are You - Drama" broadcast at 10:10 p.m., ten minutes later than their scheduled time due to special programs concerning Korean astronaut Lee So-yeon. "Three Fathers, One Mother" began at 9:58 p.m.

The increase in ratings for "Three Fathers, One Mother" was determined to have started a day earlier on the 9th during the 18th General Elections of Korea. Movie actress Moon Geun-yeong (21)'s comeback drama, SBS "The Garden of Wind" might star Park Shin-yang (40) as the male leading role. Their age difference is 19 years.

The producers of the 2007 hit drama "Thank You" have teamed up together for another drama for the family, "Who Are You? - Drama"

This drama employs "spiritual possession", a popular idea which was also used in the 2006 drama "Come Back, Soon Ae" and the Japanese movie "Secret" (1999), in which spirits take control of a human body.

Director of the drama Sin Hyeon-chang explained the drama as human, fantastic, romantic and comical. "This is a family drama about recovering relationships", said Shin.

In a Korean tradition mixing Buddhism and Confucianism, the soul of a dead person is left on earth for 49 days before going to the afterlife. The drama is a story about those 49 days for a father who loves his daughter so much he possesses a stranger's body to care for her.

Yoon Kye-sang and Ko Ah-ra have been cast in a drama series about spiritual possession.

According to SidusHQ on the 22nd, "Yoon Kye-sang and Ko Ah-ra will star in the MBC drama series "Who are you? - Drama" portraying the story of love between a couple as well as family".

To be directed by Sin Hyeon-chang and written by Bae Yoo-mi, the series will comically portray episodes surrounding the cold corporate hunter Cha Seung Hyo and lacking spirit Sohn Il Geon (Kang Nam-gil) who enters his body.
