Japanese Kadokawa announced the release dates of SIN Tae-ra's horror film "Black House" (Geomeun Jib) and KIM Ji-hoon's "May 18" (Hwaryohan Hyooga), the films will open on Japanese screens on April 5 and May 10, respectively.

"Black House", a domestic box office hit, stars HWANG Jeong-min ("You Are My Sunshine"/Neoneun Nae Woonmyeong) in an impressive psychological charged role as an insurance agent who gets drawn in a suicide case in a mysterious house. Director SIN's ("Brainwave") film is based on a Japanese novel of the popular horror writer Yûsuke Kishi.

After his "Mokpo, Gangster's Paradise", director KM Ji-hoon's next film "May 18" was highly anticipated and the film about the Gwangju civilian uprising against the military dictatorship was a box office success of 2007. Recently, the Minister of Culture and Arts, Yoo In-Chun's private property was revealed to be over 14 billion-won. Some said that he had gained too much wealth, but he thinks otherwise. CJ-CGV, one of the top three exhibition chains in Korea, will devote a screen at its central-Seoul multiplex in the Yongsan Station shopping center to the exclusive showing of domestic films with English subtitles. The long-term project is a team strategy between CGV and local powerhouse studio CJ Entertainment in a bid to provide the growing foreign community with equal access to popular Korean film culture.

The first film to screen at the new foreigner-friendly venue will be CJ's star vehicle "A Man Who Was Superman" featuring celebrity leads Jeon Ji-hyeon ("Daisy" (2006), "My Sassy Girl" (2001)) and HWANG Jeong-min ("Happiness" (2007), "You Are My Sunshine" (2005)). The drama, directed by JEONG Yoon-cheol ("Marathon" (2005)), opens January 31 nationwide.

South Korean actress Jeon Do-Yeon, winner of 2007 Cannes Film Festival's best actress prize, will appear on CNN on Oct. 13, 2007, according to CNN. Acclaimed director Heo Jin-ho returns with another exploration of love in the melodrama "Happiness" (Haengbok). Traditionally, Heo assembled an A-list cast with Im Soo-jeong and HWANG Jeong-min in the leading roles.

HWANG's character, who used to live the fast life, ends up in rehabilitation center where he meets an angelic character portrayed by Im, the two fall in love.

Heo gained acclaim with the restraint "Christmas in August". "One Fine Spring Day" and "April Snow" followed and are recognizable Heo films.

Im received much attention for this role as she departs from her youthful portrayals to a more mature character. Im became internationally better known through KIM Ji-woon's "A Tale of Two Sisters". HWANG reached star status with the films "You Are My Sunshine" and "Black House".
