The upcoming film "Marine Boy" involves treading water, but it has nothing to do with the nickname Koreans affectionately give to swimming star Park Tae-hwan.
Written and directed by newcomer Yoon Jong-seok, this crime movie is about a former swimming athlete (Kim Kang-woo) who, desperately in debt, becomes employed as a "body packing" drug mule by a heartless drug lord (Jo Jae-hyeon). After swallowing a 10-meter-long drug package, this "marine boy" must swim across waters between Korea and Japan. Among the many things that beckon death, an alluring beauty (Park Si-yeon) tries to seduce him.

The crowds were out in force at the four-day promotional screening of "M" (2007), starring Kang Dong-won, late last month in Japan.
M, directed by Lee Myeong-se, had been invited to the Hallyu Cinema Festival. Some 4,000 Japanese fans of the Korean actor attended the screening.
In the psychodrama, Kang stars as Min-woo, a writer who suffers from strange nightmares. Entertainment company Avex will release a Japanese version of M on Dec. 19.
The 17 Korean films screened during the Hallyu festival, including "Lovers of 6 Years", "The Show Must Go On" and "A Love", are on a three-month relay screening in 40 movie theaters in Japan.

The Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) not only includes a kimchi flavoured western, but a rich variety of Korean tastes. HIFF selected KIM Yoo-jin's "The Divine Weapon" as its opening film and KIM Ji-woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" received the honour to close the festival.
HIFF also selected the Korean films "Sunny" (LEE Joon-ik), "The Chaser" (NA Hong-jin), "Crossing" (KIM Tae-gyoon), and "Dachiwama Le"e (RYOO Seung-wan). BONG Joon-ho will also be present with his short film "Shaking Tokyo", part of the Japanese omnibus "Tokyo!".
JEONG Woo-seong will receive the Achievement in acting award at HIFF, according to the festival and JEONG's agency Sidus HQ. JUNG will be present at the festival to receive the award and to meet with audiences. JEONG collected domestic awards, but the HIFF award will be his first international recognition. He will join Samuel Jackson and Ken Watanabe, among others, who previously won the award.

Famous actor Jeong Woo-seong will receive the 'Achievement in Acting Award' at the 2008 Hawaii International Film Festival, to be held from October 9 to 19. According to Sidus HQ, Jeong's management agency, and the film festival headquarters, Jeong will receive the coveted award which is given out to one actor for his or her outstanding performance every year. The headquarters also plans to introduce "The Good, the Bad, the Weird", the latest film featuring the popular actor.
The Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival was established in 1981 and is one of the leading international film festivals in the Oceania and Pacific regions. In 2006, film director Bong Jun-ho received the "Audience Choice Award" for his film "The Host" and last year, director Kwang Gyeong-taek received the "Audience Choice Award" and "Best Director Award" for "A Love".
