The deputy released a statement about Lee Jung-jae and his mother's lawsuit on the 17th. "There is no debt that Lee Jung-jae's mother has to reimburse. The amount the opposition claims is either included in the amount that has been reimbursed. The opposition claims she has to repay everything that's on the signed contract but that's not the truth. All of this has already been dealt with and the opposition was reimbursed by Lee Jung-jae on behalf of his mother. The opposition also promised not to make civil nor criminal lawsuits regarding this in the future in September of 2000".

"There were 5 more creditors that Lee Jung-jae was reimbursing on behalf of his mother and they have been cleared. When Lee's mother experienced financial difficulties after she went bankrupt, Lee Jung-jae took care of her debts but there were 5 more creditors other than the current opposition".

About a report made by media previously, the deputy said, "The opposition made it sound like Lee Jung-jae only offered to reimburse on behalf of his mother after the charges were made and we are disappointed in the reporter who would take it in like that. Despite the fact that the opposition made a promise not to make civil or criminal charges about this, he tried to sue her but the case was cancelled because it wasn't an issue anymore at the time".

The deputy continued that Lee Jung-jae never took over his mother's debts. "The opposition pressured Lee Jung-jae that he would take this to the media and the media even contacted the legal attorneys to verify facts and gave up once they did".

"We hope those who make public reports considering the fact that what they publish soon seems to be the truth and to protect the reputation of both sides".
