Actor Lee Jong-suk, who has stolen the hearts of female viewers across the nation with his boyish good looks, has been transformed into a cheesy Casanova in his latest project.

The movie "Hot Young Bloods", which was released on Wednesday, focuses on the romantic relationships of several teenagers living in the countryside.

Lee appears as a rustic womanizer with earthy manners and a strong provincial dialect -- a character far removed from his polished image as a heartthrob with perfect skin and a chiseled physique. Lee started out as a professional fashion model.

"I wanted to try something completely different. All the roles I've taken on in the past have been unique in their own way, but viewers still boxed them all together. I worked so hard to be as cheesy as possible to nail this character", said Lee.

"Although I always try to do my best regardless of the project I'm involved with, I'm never fully satisfied with the result", he added. However, this may not prove the case for his latest endeavor given his brilliant and impassioned performance in a role of a comical country bumpkin.

So what is he really like in a romantic relationship?

"I don't think I'm a cool guy at all. I'm really clingy and single-minded. When I look back, my behavior's really embarrassing. But I think I'll act the same way if I ever fall in love again. I don't hide anything or keep anything back when I'm in love. I throw myself fully into the relationship", said Lee.

He is now looking for villainous roles or projects that focus on male camaraderie, he said.

"I only want to work on the kind of films that I'm genuinely interested in, even if it means that I end up sticking to TV dramas until the right one comes along".
