Lee Myung-se's "M" in Toronto's Visions Competition

The 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) revealed their Visions Competition selections and it includes "M", Lee Myung-se's latest project. Visions focuses on more experimental films by audacious filmmakers and it culminates in the presentation of the Artistic Innovation Award.

LEE revealed in an interview some time ago that "M" will deal with opposites like beauty and love against fear and sadness. "M" will also be a further exploration of visual esthetics and imagination, LEE's trademarks. The story is about a writer who struggles with a writer's block, making a distinction between reality and dreams, and the return of an ex-girlfriend who passed away.

Gang Dong-won portrays the protagonist writer, another collaboration with director LEE after "Duelist". LEE made his international mark in 1999 with his frantic and stylistic "Nowhere To Hide".

TIFF runs from September 6 to the 15th. Visions' jury consists of artists from multiple fields: Lonnie van Brummelen (multimedia artist), Ian Wallace (photo conceptual artist), and Misa Harada (hat designer).
