Three Venues in Seoul
A film festival presenting short and feature-length works dealing with environmental issues will be held at three venues in downtown Seoul _ Star Six Theater, Cinecube Theater and Seoul History Museum _ through Oct. 26. The festival will screen some 100 films from 19 countries and will include question-and-answer sessions with international directors after the screening of the films. The festival will begin tonight with the screening of "1.3.6". (photo), a compilation of short films by Lee Young-jae,
Song Il-gon and
Jang Jin. The festival is divided into six sections: Green Panorama, Children of the Earth, Environmental Competition, Theme 2004 _ Namu (Trees), Retrospective of Tsuchimoto Noriaki and a Special Screening section. "The Corporation", a documentary detailing the creation of capitalism; "Pretty Big Feet", a Chinese film about life in a small rural village, "Atanarjuat", a film based on an Eskimo folktale; and "Dong River Flows On", a documentary showing the potential negative effects of building a dam will be shown.
