An exhibition displaying paintings by renowned 20th-century Korean artists including Kim Whanki, Park Soo-keun and Lee Joong-seop is currently running at the Incheon Culture and Arts Center.

The show, entitled "Since 20C", looks back at Korea's modern and contemporary art with some 70 paintings by 35 artists. They range from works by Kim Ki-chang (1913-2001) with traditional Korean technique and colors to extremely simple abstract paintings by Lee Ufan, who is one of the most internationally recognized contemporary Korean artists.

The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first is the "Modernization of Korean Paintings", which deals with artists who straddled the border between Korean traditional paintings and Western works.

The second section, titled "Western Art's Settlement and Extension in Korea", features artists who creatively interpreted expressionism in Western art. The third part is "Move to Abstract Art and Globalization", which includes works by Lee Ufan.

The exhibition continues through July 1 at the Incheon Culture and Arts Center in southeastern Incheon. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is 7,000 won ($6) for adults and 5,000 won for students. To get there from Seoul, take subway line No. 1 and transfer to Incheon subway line 1 at Bupyeong Station and get off at Arts Center Station.
