바닷가 작은 도시의 한 초등학교.
교장선생님도 못 말리는 천하의 왕내숭 열혈 노처녀 선생 여미옥(염정아 분). 나름대로 우아한 외모 뒤에 철딱서니 없고 천방지축인 뻔뻔녀를 숨기고 사는 중이다. 새 학기 첫 날, 선생의 실수는 슬쩍 넘어가도 학생의 잘못은 용서가 안 되는 여선생. 때마침 자기보다 더 늦은 지각에도 아무렇지 않은 대담한 전학생 고미남(이세영 분)을 핑계로 아이들의 기세를 잡아본다. 하지만 또래 아이들보다 한참 성숙해 보이는 몸매에 선생 뺨치는 말빨까지 겸비한 미남은 영 호락호락하질 않고 미옥은 그런 미남이 영 괴씸하다.

그렇게 심상치 않은 새 학기가 시작된 어느 날, 시골학교 여자들을 한 순간에 흔들어 놓는 사건이 터진다. 바로 얼짱 총각선생 권상민(이지훈 분)이 새로 부임한 것! 시골생활을 청산하고 서울 큰 학교로 진출해 보려 호시탐탐 기회만 노리던 여선생도 예외가 아니다. 권선생에게 필이 꽂힌 여선생은 권선생을 사로잡기 위해 수단과 방법을 가리지 않는다. 하지만 그녀 앞에 예상치 못한 적수가 버티고 있었으니 대담하기가 선생 뺨 치는 제자 미남이 바로 그 주인공.

In "Lovely Rivals", Yeom Jung Ah plays Yoe Mi-Ok, the most obnoxiously self-involved teacher ever seen on the silver screen. She doesn't care much for her job or her students and is eager to move on to bigger and better things ... until a handsome new teacher (Lee Jee Hoon) arrives. Ko Mi-Nam (Lee Se Young) is a cute, but friendless, 12 year old in Miss Yoe's class. She leads an arid, unhappy existence ... until that handsome new teacher begins to fill her fantasies.

Watching the forever frazzled Miss Yoe fall all over herself in pursuit of the new teacher provides many unforgettable comic highlights. Equally charming is little Mi-Nam's precocious efforts at wooing Mr. Handsome, efforts that succeed mainly in making the new teacher feel uncomfortable.

Just when Miss Yoe's thoughtless theatrics start to wear a bit thin, "Lovely Rivals" shifts gears and begins to show both teacher and student beginning to grow and change. This leads the film to a heartwarming, funny, and thoroughly satisfying conclusion.

Both Yeon Jung Ah and Lee Se Young give remarkable performances, as do the child actresses who play the little girls who first torment then idolize Mi-Nam and the veteran actress who plays Miss Yoe's mother. I wholeheartedly recommend this skillfully plotted and delightful film.

The story is not likel to happen. Of course, it can be true that student can have crushes especially if we are talking of a teacher as handsome as Lee Jae Hoon. But student and teacher competing, forget it. Anyway, still entertaining...but suggest to just borrow a copy.

I usually don't say this but this is an awsome movie! I love watching this movie. It was super entertaining and I love watching it through that I was sad that it was comming to an end. I wouldn't mind watching a sequal if they made one. :)

I think the guy pretty good looking but I think the female teacher is really hot. At time she looks scary but she hot. I think the female student is a cute little girl and I thought she was cute too when she was in "when I turned nine."

I recomend this movie and not just a rental but it's a good buy too. I have seen this movie 2 times so far but I am sure to watch it again pretty soon. Watch it now; you won't be disappointed! :)

Yeom Jung Ah is impressive.... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I finally got around watching this movie (boy I wished the L.E. had came out at that time, I would've loved to watched the deleted scenes). I was suprised...I think the trailer is a bit misleading, but I guess that's why the film was great. If you like My Teacher Mr. Kim (by the same director), you will love this film more. Yeom Jung Ah does a completely different role from most of her previous films (big swindle, tell me something, tale of two sisters) which is very impressive. It really shows that she is truely a great actress. This role would have been perfect for Jang Na Ra, but Jung Ah proves that she is so versatile, and knocks this one out with her animated acting...The story itself is a light comedy about a teacher and student who falls in love with the same guy...find out the rest when you pick up. Or buy mine, so that I can pickup this L.E. version. :)
