Makeup, Hair Styling for Holiday Hanbok Fashion

Bright and tidy

Regarding the traditional Korean garment "hanbok", fancy makeup and accessories and wearning your hair long is a poor match.

Hanbok typically comes in bright colors, so hair and makeup should be neat and tidy to show off the beauty of hanbok.

◇ Warm, refined makeup = A brighter foundation for the skin goes well with hanbok styling. Use a base product with a slight glimmer and then apply the foundation in small amounts with repeated pats to areas that need extra cover.

Eyebrows should be drawn in an arch shape in line with the curvy hanbok silhouette. Bright eyeshadow matching the color of the hanbok jacket is advised. Eyeshade in the same color as the darkest hue of the hanbok can optionally be applied at the tip of the eye.

Lipstick should be the same or a notch darker in the red tone than the hanbok color. Put lip gloss only at the center of the lips.

Gently pat the blush on the cheekbone, the area that protrudes when you smile. Highlights on the forehead and nose can create a brighter look.

◇ Neat hairdo = The neck and shoulder line should be visible while wearing hanbok.

Long hair is best rolled up but this is difficult to perform by yourself. Use a hair net for styling. Part your hair, brush it from front to back, tie it into a ponytail, roll it into the hair net and keep it steady with a hair pin.

Bangs don't go hand in hand with hanbok, but if your front hair is too short, neatly comb it in one direction so at least a portion of the forehead can be seen.

Don't try too hard to tie up short hair. Create natural volume on the crown of the head for a sophisticated look, which will also make your face look smaller.

As for a boyish short cut, give it a smooth feminine wave or have the hair brushed outward for a cute hairdo.
