Manhwa artist Lee Hyeon-se has been appointed as the 1st chief director of Korea Manhwa Contents Agency

Bucheon Cartoon Information Center convened board of directors meeting on July 13th to appoint cartoonist Lee Hyeon-se as the 3rd chief director of the center and the 1st chief director of Korea Manhwa Contents Agency which is to be opened in Sept.

Born in Heunghae-gun, Kyungbook, he debuted with 'The river knows it' in 1978, which depicted the Vietnam war. He is a professor of cartoon and animation at Sejong Univ. after serving as the president of the Korea Cartoonists Association.
He won several awards such as the Culture and Art Award of Korea (2005), Presidential Prize for Comics Section of Korea Comics Award (2007). His representative works include 'Alien Baseball Team (1982)', Ccachi(1987)', 'Armageddon(1988)' and 'Buddy(2007)'.

In addition, Lim Hyung-tack has been appointed as the first president of Korea Manhwa Contents Agency. He has served as the standing director of the center in Bucheon since 2006. Born in Bucheon, Mr. Lim is also director of Bucheon Cultural Foundation and Bucheon Facility Management Corporation. He has 26 years of experience of public service as the head of Dept. of Policy Development and Research and chief of Culture and Art Section of the city of Bucheon.
In the meantime, Korea Manhwa Contents Agency is scheduled to be opened in Sept. with the aim of promoting Korean manhwa by establishing infrastructure on manhwa contents and manhwa cluster. Inauguration ceremony of chief director and president will be held at the Bucheon City Hall on July 27.
