Miniature paintings

Through miniature paintings, we can find animals and plants that we see in our daily lives. You can see the intricate details of the butterfly, with the painting portraying the softness of the creature. The dragonfly's translucent wings in the painting look more real than the actual living dragonfly's wings.

[Interview : Shin Jo-won, Planner for miniature illustrated books] "Detailed paintings show what people wonder about nature and explain it to them in paintings".

The paintings require precision and detailed observations and therefore carry a lot of information in them.

Unlike photographs where the focus is on one thing, miniature paintings hold the shape and color tone.

To get this result, the artists spent a lot of time observing and make records of their findings.

Just one painting can take the artists one month to paint and several years to collect the paintings to make an illustrated book.

[Interview : Son Kyung-hee, Illustrator] "If you miss the timing, you have to postpone the project to the next year, which is why observation and recording is so important ".

The illustrated books of miniature art tell the story of the relationship between animals and plants and allow younger viewers to connect with nature.

Also, with the global warming, these books may be a document of the history of nature, not just an illustrated book.
