Director Park Chul-soo's 'Green Chair' is invited to the Panorama section of the 55th Berlin International Film Festival to be held on Feb. 10-20 in Germany.

A party concerned of this Film Festival confirmed that 'Green Chair' was additionally invited to the Film Festival's Panorama section.

Chul-Soo Park started his career as a director in 1978. In 1980 he joined MunHwa Broadcasting Corp. and in 1983 he made a comeback to the field of feature films. In 1994 he established an independent film company, Park Chul Soo Films.

His 1997 film, Push! Push! was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival, the San Francisco Film Festival and the London Pan-Asian Film Festival.

His 1996 film, Farewell My Darling, was named the Best Artistic Contribution in Montreal at the World Film Festival in 1996, and selected for the 1997 International Film Festival showings in Berlin, Sundance, Hong Kong, Singapore and India.

With an invitation of 'Green Chair' to the Film Festival, a total of 11 Korean films have come to screen in this year's Berlin Film Festival. On one hand, french movie 'Man To Man' is screened as an opening film in this year's Berlin Internatioanl Film Festival.

The Panorama within the Official Programme presents new works by well-known directors, as it showcases debut films and exciting new discoveries.

The selection of films gives an overview of trends in art-house world cinema. It attempts to bridge the divide between artistic vision and commercial interests.

With a range of films going from features and short-films to full-length documentaries, the Panorama is extremely eclectic in its breadth.

Traditionally the so-called "Auteur" film is well represented. The programme presents both new developments in the societies of the world as well as different lifestyles. It also enables a special focus on particular topics or countries.

All films in the Panorama section are, outside of their countries of origin, either world premieres or European premieres.

After screenings, members of the audience and press have the opportunity to discuss the films with the directors, producers and actors. This personal contact is crucial to the success of Panorama.
