Korea's pop group, Girls' Generation, put its new mini-album, Hoot, on the top on both on- and off-line charts, earning advance order for 150,000 copies in the middle of release day, Wednesday.
Sales of the album break down to 51,000 copies on-line and 94,000 copies off-line.
The album is expected to reach the 200,000 level in the shortest-ever release hours since the band's debut.
"Given the current trend, the sales are expected to surpass the 300,000 mark on the first day", said the band's agency.
The mini-album contains five songs, including title song, "Hoot", now topping a variety of online charts, "It's My Mistake" written by its member Yuri (Kwon Yuri) and "At First Sight",a love song the generation delivers.
The girl band, who is very busy in performing shuttling between Japan and Korea, will perform with its new album, starting at KBS's "Music Bank" on Oct. 29.
Meanwhile, Girls' Generation has emerged as the top band in Japan, placing first on the Oricon album chart, with its second single album, "Gee", which has recently been released in Japan.
In particular, the top on the Oricon chart has three significant meanings to the girl band and Korean singers ― extension of its Japanese fans from middle-age women(obasang) to young girls(onesang), the achievement in the world's second largest market, and a good precedent for other Korean singers trying to jump into Japan's music arena.

27일 발매된 걸그룹 소녀시대의 새 미니앨범 '훗(hoot)'이 선주문만 15만장을 기록하면서 각종 온•오프라인 차트 1위에 올랐다.
소녀시대는 발매 당일 온라인에서 5만1000장, 오프라인에서 9만9490장을 판매하는 등 20만장에 육박하는 판매고를 올렸다. 데뷔 최초로 최단 기간 미니앨범 20만장 판매를 돌파하는 신기록을 세울 수 있을 것으로 기대되고 있다. 소속사 측은 "현재까지의 분위기를 봐서는 30만장 이상의 판매량도 기대하고 있다"며 고무적인 반응을 보였다.
이번 미니앨범에는 현재 각종 음원차트에서 정상을 기록하고 있는 타이틀 곡 '훗(Hoot)', 멤버 유리가 첫 작사한 노래 '내 잘못이죠', 소녀시대가 전하는 러브송 '첫눈에' 등 5곡이 담겼다.
소녀시대는 최근 일본에서 발매한 두 번째 싱글 '지(Gee)'로 일본 오리콘 차트 1위를 차지하는 등 인기스타로 자리매김했다. 일본과 한국을 오가며 바쁜 일정을 보내고 있는 소녀시대는 29일 KBS '뮤직뱅크'를 시작으로 신곡 활동에 돌입한다.
