The movie "As One", based on the true story of a 1991 North and South inter-Korean table tennis team, will be released this coming May.
"As One" shows behind-the-scenes stories regarding the inter-Korean table tennis team that participated in the 1991 Chiba Worldwide Table Tennis Championships for 40 days. Ha Ji-won takes on the role of South Korean table tennis player Hyeon Jeong-hwa and Bae Doo-na takes on the role of her North Korean rival, Ri Boon-hee.
Ha Ji-won, who seems to be trying out a new kind of role every time she appears, went through a hardcore training regimen for this movie in order to be able to imitate Hyeon Jeong-hwa. Bae Doo-na, who's returning to the Korean movie scene for the first time in six years, since appearing in "The Host", is re-encountering her time as a table tennis player in her younger days and also learned the North Korean dialect for this movie.
Other than Ha Ji-won and Bae Doo-na, the cast includes Park Cheol-min, Lee Jong-se, Lee Jong-suk, Kim Eung-soo, Han Ye-ri, Choi Yoon-yeong-I and others.
