Park Ki-jung, Kang Han-young to Receive 2008 SICAF Awards

The organizing committee of the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival said it has chosen artist Park Ki-jung (73) as the recipient of the 2008 SICAF Best Cartoon Award and director Kang Han-young as the recipient of the Best Animation Award.

Park made his debut in the cartoon industry in 1956 with 'Gongsujae' and began his career by drawing four-cut comics and current events caricatures for daily newspapers. He also published epic cartoons such as 'The Challenger', 'White Cloud, Black Cloud' and 'Bombshell'.

Meanwhile Kang has produced long animations and local TV series including 'Starland Trio', '3000 Leagues in Search of Mother', 'Milo's Adventures' and 'Sun Shower'.

The awards ceremony will be held during the opening ceremony of the 2008 SICAF on May 21.
