Actor/singer Park Yong-ha will become the first "hallyu" star to perform in one of the largest Japanese live concert halls, Budokan, which can accommodate over 10,000 people. The Japanese sports daily Sankei Sports wrote on June 2 in its entertainment section that on Aug. 22, Park will be the first Korean wave star to perform in Budokan, becoming the first globally renowned artist since The Beatles to perform in the hall.
Park, who so far has toured eight Japanese cities since January, has drawn 40,000 viewers in 11 concerts and is now planning his second concert tour. He reportedly chose Budokan for its ability to accommodate over 10,000 people at a time.
On July 20, Park will release a mini-album containing the remakes of four Japanese hit songs including Hirai Ken's "Closing My Eyes", which was featured in the movie "Shouting Out Love From The Center Of The World", and Nakabuchi Tsuyoshi's "Run". The album will also contain Park's song "Notice", which gained enormous popularity in Japan, and be packaged together with a DVD featuring the music video of the song. The DVD will also feature images of a shirtless Park canoeing and fishing in the Philippines.
Following his concert in Tokyo on Aug. 22, Park will perform in Osaka on Aug. 28 in a 10,000-seat concert hall.
