YesAsia Editorial Description

From Kim Sung Su, director of the epic Musa: The Warrior, comes a decidedly different kind of film - the delightful, hilariously offbeat romantic comedy, Please Teach Me English! Lee Na Young, star of Who Are You? and Someone Special, plays Young Ju, a cute, bespectacled public official who is forced to take English lessons, so at least one employee at the office is bilingual! After much hesitation, Young Ju signs up for English lessons, and soon enough, the adventure begins!

In the class, Young Ju meets Cathy (Angela Kelly), the pretty teacher from Australia, as well as Moon Su ( Jang Hyuk of Volcano High), who takes on the English name Elvis, thanks to his ridiculously long sideburns. While Young Ju (now rechristened "Candy") takes a liking to Elvis, it seems he's too busy making obvious passes at their teacher to care. But as shallow as Elvis seems, it turns out he's got a real reason for being in class. He has a sister who was put up for adoption and soon she'll be visiting both Elvis and his aged mother. Since his mother won't be able to communicate with the English speaking daughter, it's up to Elvis to learn the language before the three of them reunite. But when Candy misunderstands Elvis' reasons for learning English, will she give in to her jealousy and ruin everything? Or is their hope for this screwball couple? The answer to these questions and more await you in this wacky, intensely likable film! Thanks to a charming performance from the adorable Lee Na Young, Please Teach Me English is one romantic comedy that goes straight to the head of the class!

English Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Funny and entertaining movie. The lead actress was likeable, but the lead actor, not as likeable. I liked how she didn't change, she stayed the nerdy/likable character till the end.

Amazing Film, Bad DVD Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
A brilliant film, funny and heartwarming, with some genuinely good acting, but this DVD will only allow you to watch the Chinese dubbed version with english subtitles, not the original Korean!
This is disappointing and now I have to spend extra to buy the Region 3 edition.
Don't buy this print if you want to see the film in Korean with English subtitles.

Above average Korean romantic comedy Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
I have to say after watching this movie, I was a bit dissappointed. It's just not funny enough... maybe you can say it's the script itself that needed more "funny" lines or moments, which it lacks. All the main characters/leads are VERY GOOD portraying their roles (which saves the movie for me), but again, I have to say that the script is just so-so. Also, I did not like the fact that I could not see this dvd movie in Korean with English subtitles (I guess Tai Seng did not want to spend the "extra" effort on this). So, it's either watch it in Cantonese or Mandarin with english subtitles OR Korean with chinese subtitles. If you're a "purist" (watching a movie in it's original language with english subtitles), then buy the Region 3 dvd and have a region free dvd player.

Please teach me english Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This movie wasn't as good as i thought it will be. There wasn't much love and there was a little drama only. It's kind of hard to tell how they fell in love, except for how the chick feel for him. But about the dude, it was hard to see why and how he fell in love with her. But after all, there were some funny parts in there. And yes, it sucked also too because there is no english sub. for it if you had the language on korean.

Don't judge a movie by it's cover, this one has no Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This was a great movie, as soon as I got it I told my sister that she just HAD to see it! It's great comedy and drama all mixed in together. The only thing that bothered me was you can only watch the Korean audio with Chinese subtitles, but the Mandarin and Cantonese audio with Chinese/English subtitles. But, if you don't have a region free DVD player, this is definitely the version to buy! For the price you pay though, the video quality is EXCELLENT!

As for the movie its self, it made me laugh so hard to see them doing a whole fighting game segment along with eating the English dictionary pages! Then there was the touching love story aspect and the drama. The random Americans in the movie make it just hillarious too. To sum it up, if you like romantic-comedy, this movie is a great pick! (and a good bargain)
