Reception Held for Youth Film Festival

A reception was held today in Seoul for a forthcoming youth film festival named after the late Korean director Shin Sang-ok.
The first Shin Sang-ok Youth Film Festival will run for five days from August 10th in South Chungcheong Province.
Mr. Shin was at the forefront of the domestic film industry in the 1960s, but is best known for being kidnapped by North Korea in 1978 to produce films for the communist regime.
He spent eight years in North Korea before escaping in 1986.
Around 300 movie industry bigwigs including director Lee Joon-ik, veteran actors Ahn Sung-ki, Park Joong-hoon and Kang Soo-yeon attended the reception.
Organizers say the festival will introduce outstanding works by young people and seek to discover new and aspiring filmmakers.
The festival is open to high school and university students and amateur directors.
