Ryoo Seung-bum, Shin Min-a Leave for Cannes

Ryoo Seung-bum and Shin Min-a, the lead actors of the upcoming movie "Beauty and the Beast", will visit the Cannes International Film Festival on May 14. Ryoo and Sin will fly to Cannes together as their two previous movies, "Crying Fist" and "A Bittersweet Life", were both invited to the festival. The filming of "Beauty and the Beast" is scheduled to begin May 9 in an art hall in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. In the movie, Ryoo plays a "shy beast" and Sin a "sassy beauty", who both fall in love with each other.

"Crying Fist", starring Ryoo and Choi Min-sik, was invited to compete in the Directors' Fortnight division. Ryoo will stay in Cannes from May 14 to 20.

"A Bittersweet Life", starring Sin, was invited to the out-of-competition division of the festival. Sin will walk down the red carpet alongside director Kim Jee-woon and actor Lee Byung-hun.

A person from the production company of "Beauty and the Beast" said the filming of the movie will be suspended for about a week starting from May 14 while both its lead actors are in Cannes. He also added that the two are unlikely to meet in Cannes, as their respective movies will be shown on different days, and despite the fact both Ryoo and Sin will depart from Cannes on the same day.

Shin, who in addition to "Beauty and the Beast" is also starring in "Sad Movie", will return to Korea on May 17 to shoot scenes with fellow actor Lee Ki-woo.
