The wife of leading Korean Wave star Ryoo Si-won launched divorce proceedings with the Seoul Family Court on March 22, it emerged on Monday. The arbitration date has not yet been fixed.
Ryoo and his wife, identified by her surname Cho, started dating in early 2010 and tied the knot in October of that year. Cho, a dance student nine years Ryoo's junior, gave birth to a baby girl just three months after the wedding.
Ryoo issued a press release on Monday saying, "There was no agreement reached with my wife regarding the divorce, and I firmly intend to talk through our problems and keep the marriage alive. I will do my best to keep the family together during the arbitration process".
