SBS Production, an affiliate of the Seoul Broadcasting Station, is to set up a 24 hour-run Korean channel in Taiwan early next month.
The channel, which will be operated in cooperation with the Gala Television Corporation, Taiwan's biggest cable TV station, will air Korean TV programs including dramas, variety shows and documentaries, the company said.
All of the programs will be dubbed into Mandarin Chinese.
This is the first time that Korean TV programs are being introduced directly to foreign viewers through the cable channel airing only Korean TV programs.
SBS Production said the establishment of all-Korean TV channel will further promote Hallyu or Korean Wave in the region, adding that Taiwan has the highest diffusion rate of cable TV channels in the world (87 percent of 4.85 million households).
