Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Ko, Seok-Man) and COEX, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism's support, will hold Seoul Character Fair 2008, Asia's largest cultural-content licensing show, at COEX in Seoul from July 23 to 27.
Now on its seventh year, Seoul Character Fair is an international exhibition that was participated in by a total of 147 Korean and foreign comics, animation, and game companies last year. Every year, the number of its visitors increases by 10 to 15%. It has thus clearly situated itself as Korea's representative cultural-content licensing festival.
This year, Seoul Character Fair is expected to be participated in by some 3,000 Korean and foreign buyers and 200 companies in the character, animation, comics, game, music, broadcasting, film, and entertainment industries, thus making it the largest festival in the fair's history.
Furthermore, KOCCA plans to maximize the effect of those companies that will participate in this year's fair on its licensing business, based on KOCCA's six-year-long know-how.
"We expect that this year's fair will contribute to the Korean companies' advance into foreign markets, and that it will be reborn as a licensing exhibition that represents the Asian market", said a KOCCA official.
