Seoul International Youth Film Festival's top prize goes to Bit by Bit

by KOFIC

The 13th Seoul International Youth Film Festival (SIYFF) closed last week with the Grand Prize going to KIM Hye-bin for directing .

This year, the festival presented 140 films from 37 countries with accompanying programs such as Guest Visits, Cine Talk Talk, Midsummer Night's concerts and Reading Movie events. For instance, the popular Cine Talk Talk, directors such as Lee Joon-ik, Bang Eun-jin, and Sin Tae-ra and actors such as Lim Seong-min, Myeong Se-bin and Ji Dae-han watched films with audiences and discussed them afterwards.

Jury head Bae Chang-ho said about the Stimulating View 1 competition finalists, "They lack the creative sides as teenagers' works, but succeed in showing us universality captured in everyday life, thematic consciousness of their own, and entertaining aspects".

He also commented, "The finalists in Stimulating View 2 vary in terms of their scale; from a blockbuster to an episode piece. We the jury preferred simple and honest works rather than glamorous works. And, the final winners are the ones that portray the problems teenagers experience in reality from a warm point of view".
