Summer means skyrocketing electricity bills courtesy of air conditioning.
And in an effort to conserve power, Seoul City has announced plans to implement a so-called "Coolbiz" campaign.
It follows the 2004 Japanese government's playbook in promoting dressing down for work.
Losing the tie is just the start.
Some companies and schools even plan to allow casual attire like shorts and sandals.
On June 5th, or World Environment Day, a Coolbiz fashion show featuring Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon as a model, will be held.
To set the tone for the start of the green campaign, government officials at the presidential office of Cheongwadae showed up without ties and jackets.
