Every major city boasts skyscrapers, and Seoul is no exception.

The city's best known skyscraper is, perhaps, the 63 Building, which at one point was the tallest building in Korea. Though it may just look like an office building, there are many things to see and experience within that sparkly gold exterior.

The 63 Building has great views of the Han River and the surrounding mountains of Bugaksan Namsan and Gwanaksan. It's undergone considerable renovations over the years and now includes facilities like 63 Sea World aquarium, 63 IMAX theater, 63 Sky Art Gallery and perhaps Korea's greatest buffet restaurant, the Buffet Pavilion. The building even has its own wax museum.

Since there's already been much written about the 63 Building, I wanted to share about some lesser known, but up-and-coming skyscrapers, starting with the one I work in!

Nestled in the heart of Seoul's central business district, Ferrum Tower is near many of the city's attractions, including Namsan Tower, the Royal Palaces and the Myungdong shopping area. It's also quite convenient to get there. The building is connected through an underground passage that takes you directly to Line 2 on the subway. (If you're willing to walk a bit, you can actually get to line 3 as well.)

The 28 stories of shiny blue windows are so slick and cool, they'd make even Iron Man proud. (After all, the building derives its name from the Latin word "ferrum", meaning iron.) Owned by Dongkuk Steel, the tower has been praised for its architectural beauty, state-of-the-art intelligent functions and unique design.

In addition to design, eco-friendliness was also taken into consideration. Solar and temperature gains are controlled in individual rooms. Roller screens were also put into place to reduce greenhouse effects and to provide workers and visitors with visual comfort within the building.

Inside, there's more to the building than just offices. There are several pieces of artwork, seating areas and event rooms. While it may not have its own wax museum, Ferrum Tower has many food-loving guests daily. The building has been called a  "foodie mecca" by the Korea Herald for its excellent and diverse shops, offering tastes anywhere from traditional Korean food to World Barista Champion coffee to renowned Swiss chocolate.
