SHINee holds first-ever concert in Japan with over 20,000 fans

Korean boy band SHINee held their concert in Japan over the weekend, performing in front of several tens of thousands of local fans and media outlets for their two series of shows.

A press release from SM Entertainment announced on Monday that a total of 24,000 fans and 400 local media outlets came to see the boys at their concert titled "SHINee THE 1st CONCERT IN TOKYO SHINee WORLD" held twice on December 26 at the Yoyogoi National Stadium in Tokyo of Japan.

The boys sang several of their songs, including one while hanging from a wire as well as taking the stage for individual performances.

SHINee member Jonghyun expressed his feelings on not being able to perform with the rest of the group due to his ankle injury saying, "I am both sad and sorry because the members and I have dreamed of holding a concert even before our debut and I wanted to show everything through this show".

The quintet also announced they will officially take off their singing career in Japan starting 2011, releasing their first album in March of next year through EMI Music Japan, a subsidiary of British music company EMI Group Ltd.

Composed of other members Key, Choi Minho, Taemin and Onew, SHINee made their debut in 2008 under major talenthouse SM Entertainment. They have produced a number of hit songs including "Reply", "Ring Ding Dong" and "LUCIFER".

The boys will hold another concert, on January 1 and 2, at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea.
