Boy band Shinhwa member Eric Moon was discharged from the military over the weekend, fulfilling the two-year duty required of all Korean men.
The 31-year-old rapper of the group had served as a public service worker at a military station in Seoul since October 2008.
"A lot of people rooted for me two years ago as well so I thank all of you who came out today. I will work hard to return your support", he said to fans and reporters who had gathered to see him on Saturday.
About 400 fans from several countries including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Canada showed up to congratulate the pop star for fulfilling his military duties.
He then explained that he is set to appear in an upcoming drama tentatively titled "Poseidon" which will soon go into shoot.
"Poseidon" will be Korea's first TV series on coast guards also starring actor Kim Kang-woo.
Eric Moon, whose real name is Mun Chong-hyok, debuted as a celebrity through his six-member band in 1998 which had been one of the most popular groups in the country and throughout Asia.
He then pursued a career in acting starting in 2003 which has been successful as well, winning him several awards.
