From May 21, the 12th edition of the Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival will be hosted by Seoul during five days. The festival announced the growing number of applicants; in particular, foreign entries – especially European – have dramatically increased.
SICAF's growing recognition allows the festival to attract major animations. SICAF selected films from thirty countries and a total of 137 animated films will be showcased. The animation festival has several categories – competitive and non-competitive – for a wide range of animation films. The venues are Lotte Cinema's Konkuk branch and Seoul Tade Exhibition Center.
SICAF aims to stay in touch with trends in animation by offering a platform for artistic talents and cutting edge technological developments, and seeks to expand the variety in animation. SICAF was approved by ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation) in 2005.
