Source of Choi Jin-sil Rumors Remains Elusive

Police have closed an investigation of the source of rumors said to have spurred the suicide of actress Choi Jin-sil. According to the rumor, Choi had some part in the recent suicide of actor Ahn Jae-hwan, who apparently killed himself under pressure of huge debts. Police said rumors that Choi was one of the creditors are groundless.
Seocho Police on Tuesday said they investigated four people who were confirmed to have spread the rumor but failed to track down the source of the rumor. They decided to close the investigation and book all four.
They include a 25-year-old employee in a securities company identified as Baek, who is charged with posting the rumor in an online club, and three other securities employees identified as Koo (28), Lee (34) and Baek (34), who allegedly distributed the rumor via online messenger.
