"Bridal Mask" Joo Won confessed why he became a pro-Japanese to his brother.
On the fourth episode of the KBS 2TV drama "Bridal Mask", Lee Kang-to (Joo Won) realizes the real Mok-dan (Jin Se-yeon) and felt doubts.
Kang-to hugged a sleeping Lee Kang-san (Shin Hyeon-joon) and spoke to himself about everything. He said, "Do you remember, when mother and we were being chased by bandits, when father died and so did his workers, I made a promise? I told her not to die and that I would find her. I really thought she was dead then. But she's alive, what should I do? I have to kill her".
He continued, "I don't want to live like this either. I want to do what mom likes but do you know? I worked hard and was beaten up to earn something that didn't even get me three meals; I earned that and sent you to school".
He cried and said, "I believed it would be the end once you graduate from financial college. In this world where people who have no money or education have to live off foreign powers, I don't know anything else better than this..."
Lee Kang-to had joined sides with the Japanese to earn money for him and his brother who had become dumb. Lee Kang-san cried together with Lee Kang-to.
