On the fifth episode of KBS 2TV's Monday/Tuesday drama "Love Rain" (written by Oh Soo-yeon, directed byYoon Seok-ho), aired on April 9th, the 1970's were left behind in favor of 2012, where Seo Joon (Jang Keun-suk) and Ha-na (Yoona) bickered during their first meeting.

Different from the drama's 1970's storyline, which was slow to gain any praise, the 2012 storyline, set in Hokkaido, Japan, is unfolding quickly.

The characters have changed 180 degrees from their 1970's versions. First, famous photographer worldly playboy Seo Joon noted, "I have yet to see a woman who makes my heart go pitter-patter. Instead I try to make my heart go pitter-patter when I look at myself". To Seo Joon, only he is correct and only he is the smartest. He has no interest in the perceptions of others. He is relentlessly outspoken and will fire harsh words at anyone.

However, Ha-na is a cheerful and talkative young girl who is studying gardening at an agricultural college in Japan. She always has a smile on her face, her character exuding energy and positivity.

In the episode, in order to see their mother's (Lee Mi-sook) first love, Tae-sang (Kim Young-kwang) and Ha-na travel to Hokkaido, where they meet the 'king of rudeness', Seo Joon. Seo Joon and Ha-na happen to crash into each other, and her cellphone falls into his pocket. Later, she tries to call her phone in order to get it back, and this is how the two characters get involved with each other.

After the complications end, these two isolated souls begin to bicker and chit-chat.
