Actor Son Hyeon-joo put on an excellent performance.

The first episode of the new SBS drama "THE CHASER - Drama" showed Baek Hong-sik (Son Hyeon-joo) crying over the death of his middle school daughter.

Baek Hong-sik went into the court with a gun. He shot the gun everywhere in anger of the killer being freed from charge and yelled at him to tell the truth. Then in a brawl with the criminal, Hong-sik accidentally pulled the trigger on him and yelled, "Don't die! You know what happened that night!" to a bleeding man.

This scene overlaps with Hong-sik happily holding a birthday party for his daughter. He had presented tickets to PK Joon's (Lee Yong-woo) concert to her and her boyfriend. On that night, Hong-sik receives a call from his daughter that she was on her way home from the concert while he was having a drink with fellow detectives.

However, a few minutes later when he called her back, Soo-jeong was unconscious on the ground hit by a car. Hong-sik arrived at the hospital to find his daughter with just a weak heartbeat in surgery and held the hands of his friend the doctor, Yoon Chang-min (Choi Joon-yong).

The surgery was a success but she had a seizure and died. Husband of the hit-and-run accident culprit Seo Ji-soo (Kim Sung-ryung) and presidency nominee Kang Dong-yoon (Kim Sang-joong) had instigated Chang-min to medicate Soo-jeong and kill her.

Hong-sik didn't even cry at his daughter's funeral. He cleaned and shrouded his daughter's corpse absent-mindedly. He brushed her forehead and held her cold hands and feet with great sadness screaming from his eyes in a way no words could explain.

This performance was delivered right to the viewers and made several tear up. Many netizen's wrote on the bulletin board, "Song Hyeon-joo indeed", "I can cry just from looking at his eyes", "I think this is the release of decent drama" and more.

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Hong-sik ran out from the funeral saying he would catch whoever did this to his daughter and a scene of Dong-yoon was shown, making a speech to the people about becoming their president.
