Sponge Announces 4th Theater

Sponge will open its fourth film house on December 1. The latest Sponge theater is also located in Seoul, this time in Gwanghwamoon. Gwanghwamoon Sponge House will be Korea's first cinema which combines artistic films with food and wine, according to Sponge.

Gwanghwamoon Sponge House will start with films from master film makers Wong Kar Wai (Hong Kong), Jean Jacques Annaud (France) and Krzysztof Kieslowski (Poland). The selected films are from the 80s and 90s.

Sponge said that its Gwanghwamoon branch will cater to the regular Sponge visitor and also try to appeal to the numerous office employees in the Gwanghwamoon area.

The first Sponge House opened South of the Han River in Apgujeong in April 2006. The following three Sponge Houses are located in neighboring areas north of the Han River, but with different atmospheres; Jongno is a business district and Myeongdong is an upscale shopping area.
