The Korea Foundation and the East Asia Museum in Stockholm signed a cooperative contract to pursue the project in 2009, when Korea and Sweden marked 50 years of diplomatic relations.

The exhibition spans a 100 sq.m area on the third floor of the museum and contains around 350 artifacts from the Three Kingdoms era to the late Chosun Dynasty. The objects on display range from pottery and calligraphy to daily utensils.

Hwang Du-jin, who specializes in designing hanok or traditional Korean houses handled the design of the hall, giving it a traditional Korean feel. "I tried to create a typical Korean-style atmosphere by employing the layout of the hanok which is often accompanied with a courtyard, wooden porch, and rooms", he said.
