"Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" Invited to Venice Film Festival

The movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", directed by Park Chan-wook, has been invited to compete at the 62nd Venice Film Festival slated for Aug. 31-Sept. 10 in Italy.

So far, two of Park's movies, " JSA - Joint Security Area " and "Oldboy", have competed at three overseas film festivals, including the 2001 Berlin Film Festival and the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

For Lee Young-ae, the lead actress of "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", it will be the second invitation to a high-profile film festival. She was invited to the Berlin festival for her role in " JSA - Joint Security Area " in 2001, and this year will appear in front of the global media in Venice.

"Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" opened in Korea July 28, and is the last in Park's "vengeance series" after "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "Oldboy". It is a story about a woman who takes revenge on a man who made her spend 13 years in jail for a crime she did not commit.
